As soon as we have received authorization of your payment, the process begins. We assign IP numbers, set up the files and cgi programs on your Domain . The registration acknowledgment with Internic is usually within 4 -24 hours. The IP number is the actual address of your Domain - i.e. 209.150.134.28. As soon as we have your routing number we will send it to you along with your password. With this IP number you can immediately start to upload files to your Domain and send visitors to your site using your IP number.TIP: The IP number is actually your permanent address. Next, Internic now routes your IP number, by telling every ISP (internet service provider) that if "yourname.com" is entered to send them to your IP number (IP#'s do not show up in browsers when routing is completed). Routing of your Domain to every ISP takes 2-10 days depending on Internic itself (updates are done once a day). You can check the "Whois' directory daily to see when your Domain has been routed (your name will appear). Third level Domains will be processed much quicker and will not appear in the "Whois" directory. If you are transferring your current Domain to our servers, you must reply to the request that InterNic will send you

What if the internic records have the wrong email address to send the verification for my modification/transfer.
You will then need to use the tracking number internic assigns your transfer (email us for the tracking number) to fax in the authorization. Your will need to fax them an authorization to modify at  703-991-0058referencing the tracking number, a valid id will also need to be copied and sent with there signature and title if it applies. This can ONLY be done by the registered owner.

FTP'ing and PlusMail

FTP = file transfer protocol - the way you get the files from your computer to our server. With our new PlusMail system, you can upload files right from your web browser.  Information regarding FTP'ing and "how to" is included in the Online Manual (on the left side menu). It is important to note that initially you will need to use the following to log on (based on CuteFTP):

  • Site address: whateveryou want to name it

  • Host Address: put your assigned IP number here (when you get routed by Internic you can use yourdomainname.com).

  • User ID: Put your Domain name here (without the .com)

  • Password: your assigned password (it is case sensitive)

We highly recommend using the new PlusMail system for FTP'ing, setting up autoresponders, re-directing email etc. To get to your Plusmail system, log on to the Internet, place your IP# followed by /cgi-bin/plusmail. i.e- http://209.150.123.54/cgi-bin/plusmail into your browser. Now place the  PlusMail account info that was emailed to you in the username and password fields. There is a whole "Detailed Instructions"  for your use. Once you are logged on you can easily upload files by just clicking on the file you want and where you want to place it on your server. You can add autorresponders by simply adding the typing the text you want and the name you want for your autoresponder. You can have unlimited autoresponders. You can also add new file folders, add files to them and name them whatever, password protect any folders you want etc. We also suggest using Eudora the best Winsock e-mail application on the Net.

Setting up additional POP accounts. You may set up additional POP (email) accounts from your PlusMail system. Be cautious when setting up additional accounts, as you are limited to the number of POP accounts for your Domain, and once  you have set one up, it can not be deleted, or exchanged for a new one. Your master POP (yourdomain@yourdomain.com) is a "catch all" account. Any email sent to your Domain will show up in the email account ie: sdfs@yourdomainname.com unless there is a separate POP account for that name. Never deleted your master POP account!

POP set up:

Mail server: yourdomainname.com

SMTP: yourdomainname.com

Username: as assigned (usually your domain name without the .com)

Password: as assigned

Keeping your Usage Down and Hits up

One of the bandwidth biggest hogs to your site will be downloads. If you are offering programs that are downloadable from your site, you can quickly exceed your quota. This can also slow down your site. The simple math is, a program that is 5 megs that is downloaded by 2,000 people a month = 1 gig. If your planning on offering downloads direct from your site, and want to conserve your bandwidth contact us, and we will help you develop a solution. Once your site has been up for a week, you can check your usage by going to yourdomainname.com/wusage  (put in your domain name).
